Early in her medical career, Natasha Tiffany, MD, volunteered at the Wallace Medical Concern, a volunteer organization providing quality medical care to residents of Portland and Gresham, Oregon, who lack health care insurance. Previously, Dr. Tiffany had been interested in neuroscience research, receiving an award in neuroscience and biopsychology from Oberlin College of Arts & Sciences, her undergraduate school. After working on rat-and-mouse-model studies relating to Parkinson’s disease, fibroblast growth in the central nervous system, and cerebral artery occlusion, Dr. Natasha Tiffany shifted her focus to internal medicine and the study of cancers and blood disorders.
After she earned her MD from Oregon Health & Science University with honors, Dr. Natasha Tiffany completed her internship and residency through Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. While there, Dr. Tiffany developed an interest in teaching, assisting in the editing of the syllabus for ambulatory care at Massachusetts General and participating in the Curriculum Committee for its Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Natasha Tiffany returned to Oregon to serve as a Fellow of the Hematology and Medical Oncology division at OHSU, and was Chief Fellow during the final year of her formal medical education and training. During her fellowship, Dr. Tiffany conducted research on prostate cancer with the Deputy Director of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Tomasz Beer, MD. They published the results of their phase I/II studies in the Journal of Urology in 2005.
Now an Affiliate Assistant Professor at OHSU in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Natasha Tiffany, MD, also maintains a private practice in Salem, Oregon. One of 5 practitioners at Hematology Oncology of Salem LLP, Dr. Tiffany is an expert on breast cancer, serving as the Vice-Chair of the Breast Cancer Committee at the Salem Cancer Institute. She continues her interest in medical research as a member of the Board of Directors at Willamette Clinical Research Inc. in Salem.
